If you’re still deciding whether Operations or Warfare is the better starting point, see our mode comparison guide first. If extraction games are new to you altogether, our extraction shooters for beginners guide covers the habits that apply to every game in the genre. Delta Force’s Operations mode, also listed as Hazard Operations, is the game’s extraction format, and the run doesn’t end when you stop finding loot. It ends when you actually extract with it. A great looting run followed by a failed extraction leaves you with nothing to show for it, which makes extraction planning at least as important as the looting itself.
Bring medical supplies for injuries, not just health
In Operations, getting shot doesn’t only cost health: it can cause injuries, and each type is treated with its own medical item. Deploying without enough medical supplies to handle a real fight is one of the most avoidable ways a run ends early, regardless of how good your gear is.
Core gear isn’t optional — it’s your loadout foundation
Before deploying, you need a helmet, body armor, a backpack for carrying loot, and a chest rig for quick access to consumables. The chest rig specifically matters because fumbling through a full inventory mid-fight costs time you don’t have. Treat these four slots as mandatory planning, not something to fill in with whatever’s left over after buying weapons. See our guide to choosing a weapon and loadout for that side of the decision.
Lower-pressure maps are where you learn extraction timing
Zero Dam, the map Operations introduces you on, is the natural place to learn: once you know its layout and extraction points, you can practice reading extraction windows instead of being forced into fights you’re not ready for. Jumping straight into the busiest, loot-richest maps before you’ve extracted successfully a few times tends to just produce repeated total losses.
Only your Safe Box is guaranteed safe
Everything you deploy with is at risk if you fail to extract, except whatever is already sitting in your Safe Box. That means deploying with your single best weapon and no backup plan puts your most valuable gear at maximum risk every single run. Rotating what you deploy with, rather than always bringing your best available loadout, keeps a bad run from being a catastrophic one.
A practical extraction mindset
- Never deploy without enough medical supplies to handle at least one real fight.
- Fill your four core gear slots (helmet, armor, backpack, chest rig) before spending on anything else.
- Practice on Zero Dam until you’ve extracted successfully more than once.
- Keep your genuinely best gear in your Safe Box rather than risking it on every run.
The players who consistently walk away from Operations with something to show for it aren’t necessarily the best shots. They’re the ones who treat extraction as the actual objective, not an afterthought once the looting’s done.
