Delta Force costs nothing to download, so “is it worth it” really means “is it worth your time, your disk space and your patience”. The short answer: for many shooter fans, yes, as long as you know what you’re getting into, including the parts players criticize.

What you actually get

Delta Force is a free-to-play military shooter from Team Jade. It arrived on PC in December 2024, on mobile in April 2025, and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in August 2025, with cross-platform play. One download contains three quite different experiences:

  • Warfare: large-scale battles with vehicles and unlimited respawns. Low stakes, high chaos.
  • Operations: the extraction mode. You deploy with gear, loot, fight, and lose what you carried if you don’t extract. Only your Safe Box is protected.
  • Black Hawk Down: a co-op campaign inspired by the film, added as a free update in February 2025 (initially on PC).

Our Warfare vs. Operations guide explains how the two multiplayer modes differ and which to learn first.

Why it’s worth trying

It’s free and broad. Few free shooters give you a large-scale mode, an extraction mode and a co-op campaign in one package. If you get tired of one, the others are right there.

It’s the friendliest way into extraction games. Warfare lets you learn maps, weapons and recoil without losing anything, before you start risking gear in Operations. Hardcore extraction games don’t give you that safety net.

It’s everywhere. PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and mobile, with cross-platform play. If your friends are spread across platforms, that matters.

Operators add variety. Abilities and gadgets make it more arcade-friendly than realism-first shooters, which suits players who want action more than simulation.

What players complain about

Being fair means covering this too. Delta Force’s Steam user reviews have sat in the “Mixed” range, and the same complaints come up repeatedly:

  • Kernel-level anti-cheat. On PC, Delta Force uses Anti-Cheat Expert (ACE), which runs at the kernel level of Windows, as several competitive shooters’ anti-cheat systems do. Around the PC launch, players reported that ACE stayed on their PCs after they uninstalled the game; the studio apologized and said it was working on a hotfix. If kernel-level anti-cheat is a dealbreaker for you, that settles it.
  • Cheaters. Like most free-to-play shooters, Delta Force gets regular player complaints about cheating, especially in Operations, where losing gear to a cheater hurts most.
  • Monetization. It’s free, so it sells cosmetics, a battle pass and other items. Check what the shop sells before you spend anything, and set your own limit.

None of these is unusual for a large free-to-play shooter, but they’re real, and they’re why opinions about the game are split.

Who should install it

  • You want a free military shooter with variety, not just one mode.
  • You’re curious about extraction games but want an easy way in.
  • You play on console or mobile, or with friends on different platforms.
  • You enjoy large-scale battles with vehicles.

Who should skip it

If you install it: first steps

  1. Start in Warfare to learn maps and weapons without losing anything.
  2. Pick a role and a loadout that fits it. Our weapons and loadouts guide helps.
  3. Move to Operations on a lower-pressure map, and keep your best gear in the Safe Box. See the Operations survival guide.
  4. On PC, tune for a stable frame rate before visual detail with our Delta Force PC settings guide.

Bottom line: in 2026, Delta Force is worth installing if you want a free, varied military shooter and an easy door into extraction games, and you’re comfortable with its anti-cheat and its shop. Since it’s free, the real test is a few evenings of Warfare and a handful of Operations raids.
